So you've got brand new, comfortable heels
and you love them! They feel amazing and you know you look stunning in them. What’s next? How do you care for Julieta heels so they look as graceful and sophisticated as they did the very first time you slipped them on? Spending a few minutes caring for those lovely heels can create years of feeling good in them.
Storing Julieta Heels
Begin by creating an area in your closet where your heels can sit upright and relatively undisturbed by the surrounding elements. Preferably never near a window, as prolonged sunlight exposure can damage the supple leather or disturb the color.
Traveling with Julieta Heels
If you must take them out of the house in a bag, take them in the individual shoe bags they came in. Good shoemakers include storage bags with your shoes for a reason. After all, the last thing anyone wants to see is a long tragic scuff mark across the left shoe that was caused by a run on incident with the right, while they were bouncing around in your bag!
Shoe Emergency Kit
If you don’t have one already, create a shoe emergency kit. In a small bag or box place a microfiber cloth, leather conditioner, plastic heel covers, some tissue, and your cobbler's phone number. The microfiber cloth is excellent when used on little scuffs or daily dirt. And while having extra tissue around sounds curious for an emergency kit, it is perfect for stuffing your shoes and helping them keep their shape while they gently dry in case of a run-in with a rainstorm or random puddle.
Keep in mind: soaking water is not a friend to your leather. If your heels get wet, wipe off all visible water, stuff them with the tissue and allow them to air dry. Hair dryers and other mechanical means of applying heat will shrink and age your leather. Conditioner can be applied once your heels are completely dry.
Know a Good Cobbler
Finally, the key to a long life with your luxury shoes is to know a good cobbler. Yes, they still exist! While we all look at Amazon to toss us the odd item now and then, your investment shoes are going to want an ongoing relationship with a real person.
Your cobbler will be able to replace your heel tips with the best tips for you and your lifestyle and not all tips are not created equal! They will also be able to recommend the best products and conditioners for each pair of shoes. A good cobbler is the most valuable shoe resource.
Beautiful shoes that are a pleasure to wear are worth the few minutes it takes to care for them. Love them and enjoy!
