THE SOLE
EXPERIENCE

When uncomfortable heels put stress on your feet, it makes for a miserable day. How many times have you put a pair of sneakers or flats in your bag because you knew your feet were not going to make it through the day in those gorgeous pumps? Or you wear a pair of "sturdy" heels—not so pretty, but at least your feet will not be in pain. Our goal at Julieta is to create the most comfortable heels without compromising style.

To create our shoes, Dr. Fernando Peña, an experienced orthopedic surgeon, started with his years of experience examining how the foot supports the entire body and how various angles, pressures and body mechanics determine sole posturing. He found he could mold and craft a custom insole specifically designed to support the foot in a way that distributes the weight evenly, avoiding stress on the most common areas. Throughout 2018 we tested numerous prototypes until we had the most comfortable heels.

Inside the Comfort

Handmade in Spain to exquisite perfection

  • From idea to reality, a Julieta Barcelona heel can take up to 3 months to craft, with each step of the process requiring specific expertise.

Sketches are interpreted by the pattern makers, who develop the design and create a unique mold. New styles are perfected with millimetric precision to achieve a balanced fit and maximum lightness.

  • A single pair can include up to 30 different components that are hand-assembled to exacting standards—the upper is cut and stitched from soft leathers or refined fabrics, while each sole is craft with the brand's distinctive technique.

  • Each completed pair is hand-checked to ensure the statement finish Julieta Barcelona is known for.

The shoe last and shape are specially developed to distribute the weight of the body throughout the foot, making the heel incredibly comfortable to wear. Additionally, the soles are enriched with cushioned padding.
